I’m going to the theatre to see ‘God of Carnage’.

Firedoor Theatre are well known to me – having produced two of my own full length plays – ‘An Unexpected Party’ which took part in the 2017 International Dublin Gay Theatre Festival and ‘Mother’s Little Treasure’ in 2018, so this promises to be a good show. It is about two sets of parents, one of whose child has hurt the other at a public park. They agree to meet to discuss the matter in a civilized and dignified manner. As the evening goes on, the parents become increasingly childish, resulting in the evening descending into chaos, tantrums, accusations and tears. It sounds like my kind of show.

I have seen the film version of the show named ‘Carnage’ which starred Jodie Foster, Kate Winslet, Christoph Waltz and John C. Reilly, which I vaguely remember as being impressive. That was during my Amsterdam era however so my memory is quite hazy. My return visit will refresh my memory. I am very much looking forward to it. There’s nothing quite as thrilling as sitting in a darkened theatre, waiting for the drama to start.

Starring Alex McKenzie, Keith Byrne, Caroline Montgomery , Terry Kenny and directed by Sarah Thunder, it runs from 23rd to 28th August. You can get your tickets at this link. https://smockalley.ticketsolve.com/shows/873619157

Fully social distancing rules are in place for the show. I have my ticket booked already. Let’s get back to the theatre. Hope to see you there.
