The home stretch

‘Just finished watching the wonderful and wickedly hilarious An Unexpected Party! I haven’t laughed that much at a play in years! Make sure you find the time to see this incredible piece of theatre before it finishes its run on Saturday evening!’
AUP

The above quote is a magnificent message to read, after hobbling home from an evening of treading the boards. It sort of makes me forget the struggle of writing the play and getting it to stage.

We’re in the home stretch now. Three more shows to go. At 9pm Friday and Saturday (with a Saturday matinee also).

This weekend is quite intimidating. Not only do I have a weekend visitor from my old stomping ground of Amsterdam, but the Mammy is arriving tomorrow for the matinee along with a sizeable family contingent. Perhaps I should have edited out some of the swear words before inviting her.

Three more shows. What am I going to do with my evenings next week.

Perhaps I should write a play about star crossed lovers. One can be a clumsy returned immigrant. The other can be a monstrous driving instructor named Attila (who beneath his heart of stone is revealed to lie a heart of steel).

I just need to get to the finish line first.

This has been an incredible experience thus far.
